The 2021 AADAI seminar Connected Us online across the country
We recorded the three sessions of the 2021 Annual AADAI Seminar, held in May 2021.
Session 1 – Friday 14 May 2021
An opportunity for our President to share more about your Association and the ongoing advocacy activities, and to practice Zoom skills and meet other members from across Australia. This video link includes Bronwyn Monro’s welcome and summary of the activities of the Association in the last twelve months.
Session 2 – Saturday 15 May 2021
Professor Cres Eastman presented a medical session on “Addison’s Disease and Thyroid Disorders” which was hosted both live from Club Burwood in Sydney, and on Zoom. The detailed presentation was followed by a live Q&A, with lots of helpful discussion points. Professor Eastman encouraged members to ask questions of their medical practitioners and supported the presentation with a 1 page chart to prompt annual check-ups.
Professor Creswell Eastman, AO, is an eminent endocrinologist, a Clinical Professor of Medicine, at the University of Sydney, Principal of the Sydney Thyroid Clinic and Consultant Emeritus to the Westmead Hospital. Professor Eastman has given huge support to the educational work of the Association over many years and spoke at our first seminar in the Blue Mountains in 1994.

Session 3 – Sunday 23 May 2021
Dr Venessa Tsang’s presentation focused on “What’s new (and old) in the Addison’s world” and she answered many questions after her presentation. Dr Tsang encouraged us to have a sick day management plan, be clear on our dosage and the way various types of cortisones take effect and discussed the Covid-19 vaccination.
Dr Venessa Tsang is currently working as a staff specialist endocrinologist at Royal North Shore Hospital, and Senior Lecturer at the Northern Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Dr Tsang is an active researcher, with primary expertise in the intersection between endocrinology and cancer and she is also involved in medical education. Dr Tsang is the endocrine co-chair of the Northern Sydney Local Health District Diabetes and Endocrinology Network. She is currently a supervisor for MD student project and PhD Student.
